Traditions around the world

I was trying to find a quote, considering we were assigned to have one in our blog this week but stumbled upon something interesting.... traditions for weddings in different cultures! For example:

African -Americans: Since African - Americans slaves were not permitted to get married, they would show there love by jumping over a broom to the beat of a drum.

German: The bride will carry salt and bread in her pocket to ensure bounty and the groom carries grain for wealth and good fortune

Polish: For a town wedding; friends weave a crown of rosemary leaves symbolizing remembrance for the bride.

Turkey: Before the bride walks down the aisle she asks her single bridesmaid to sign the bottom of her shoe and then after all the dancing at the end of the wedding , whoevers name is faded the most will get married next.

I thought that the turkey one was the most interesting out of all those...

After reading some of these traditions, I laughed because some of them are kinda stupid, but now that I think about it.. one tradition we do is the bride turns around and throws her bouquet in the air for all the single girls to catch and whoever catches is supposed to get married next.

Then a tradition for the groom is to either take the brides garder off with his hand or his mouth( depending how frisky he is haha) and throw it in the air to all the single guys and whoever catches it is supposed to get married next.

I bet if other cultures read that as one of our traditions, they would think that is quite weird also!

I got these tradtions for a wedding magazine called The knot.. there is alot of other really cool stuff on the site so if you would like to look here is the link
